St. Peter Stiftskulinarium traces its origins to AD 803, when the scholar and monk Alcuin of York mentioned the dining establishment within St. Peter’s Abbey in Salzburg. Widely regarded as Europe’s oldest restaurant, it has welcomed guests for more than 1,200 years in the heart of what is now Austria.

Located within the historic Benedictine monastery of St. Peter, the restaurant has served generations of travelers, clergy, nobility, and locals while preserving a tradition of hospitality that spans the medieval, Renaissance, and modern eras.
